Euroclad - Education BULLETIN
Euroclad Educational BULLETIN is part of a series of Project Features publications.
''Acoustic insulation is becoming increasingly important, particularly in buildings which require reduction of external noise or reduced intrusion from sound created by rain impact on the roof. Buildings used for education, such as schools and university lecture theatres, as well as other large buildings, very often have metal roofs.''
''Acoustic performance is measured by assessing the decibel (dB) sound reduction over a frequency weighted to the human ear – 100Hz to 5000Hz (5KHz). The average of this sound reduction is called the SRi, or Sound Reduction Index.'

Project Feature - Colnbrook Energy from Waste
A new state-of-the-art ‘Energy from Waste’ plant in Colnbrook, Slough, has benefited from 9,200m2 of Euroclad’s standing seam roofing system and 9,000m2 of Mineral Fibre Composite Panel using Colorcoat Prisma® in Ariadne & Mercury. The Energy from Waste plant, a joint venture between Grundon Waste Management and Viridor Waste Management, is the major part of a larger £160 million redevelopment of an existing waste processing facility. Euroseam sheets were rolled on-site to create the distinctive arched roof on the eye-catching landmark building.
The plant, which is being delivered in conjunction with contractor BAM Nuttall will be able to incinerate 400,000 tonnes of waste per annum and generate 38 mega watts of energy for the national grid, equivalent to the requirements of a town the size of Aylesbury. The plant also includes a Materials Recovery Facility which will be able to process 40,000 tonnes of recyclables from domestic and industrial sources.

The stucco embossed aluminium Euroseam roof features self-curved sheets which are separated by gutters. Euroseam sheets are usually supplied in 0.9mm aluminium and can be used to achieve a wide range of convex, concave and multiform curves. Lightweight and versatile, Euroclad standing seam systems reduce the risk of water ingression as there are no penetrations of the outer sheet. Euroclad Ireland was happy to supply the entire building envelope in partnership with Gleeson Roofing, Lisnaskea, Co. Fermanagh, one of their approved cladding contractors.

Gerry Gleeson Managing Director of Gleeson Roofing commented; “We were delighted to work with Euroclad on this prestigious project. Euroclad’s ability to roll form roof products on site, combined with excellent levels of technical and sales support was of particular benefit on a project of this scale.” Speaking about the project, Jon Dore at Euroclad said; “Modern energy production technologies such as the Energy from Waste plant are an important part of society’s increasing evolution towards a sustainable future.
The environmental impact of Aluminium has been greatly reduced over the last century, with over a third of current global aluminium production being from recycled material. This, along with Euroclad’s dedicated environmental management system makes Euroseam the perfect choice for a project such as this.”
Euroclad Systems Modernise Market Site
Euroclad‘s Systems have been used on the £6.4 million redevelopment of Minehead’s historic old market site. Situated close to Minehead sea front, the redevelopment included the building of 12 business units which had to be sympathetic with the local area and able to withstand the harsh marine environment. A SSF500 Roof System was used on the roofs and a Half Round Profile wall systems was used on the walls of all 12 business units to provide an attractive, yet robust external building envelope.
Officially opened 21st October 2008, the new development on the town’s Mart Road includes modern workspaces for businesses, retail units and a 110 space car park. The site also includes a viewing area for the new West Somerset Railway turntable. The development is part of a Somerset County Council led regeneration project aimed at providing opportunities for people and businesses in West Somerset and the expansion of the local economy, encouraging business investment, creating jobs and boosting tourism.
